We use a combination of art, technology, and storytelling to offer insight into the world of Norwegian folklore, Norse mythology, and their beloved characters, the trolls. In the museum, you will find beautiful original models, figures and illustrations, all created respecting traditional sources. These are accompanied by traditional folktales and facts about characters, authors, and more. All of this is supplemented with AR (Augmented Reality) features which help breathe new life into the artwork!

At least 1 hour, although most people stay longer. We have a room with board games and a reading room with couches, where you can seek refuge from the arctic cold so stay as long as you want!

Adult tickets start at 280 NOK per person. Students and seniors (65+) get a discounted price of 180 NOK. Tickets for children aged 5-12 are 130 NOK, and children under 5 get free entrance to the museum. We also offer family tickets at 700 NOK for 2 adults + 2 children (up to 12 years old).

You can pay with cash or card. Cards issued outside of Norway are also accepted.

We only take cash payments in Norwegian krone (NOK).

Yes, it is. Our trolls are not meant to be scary and are family friendly, making them suitable for all age groups.

This is a museum for anyone interested in trolls and fairy tales, regardless of age. With our exhibit, we try to strike a balance between fun and informative so that everyone, both children and adults, can learn something. But if you want to know more about any of the topics we cover in the museum, feel free to ask our staff for additional information or a guided tour.

Yes! The museum is run by an international team that strives to provide a good experience to all visitors, regardless of their native language. All the texts in the exhibit are displayed in both English and Norwegian. Museum guides (print/audio) are also available in multiple languages and are included in the price. Guided tours are offered in a variety of languages too (groups who want a tour in a specific language should contact the museum in advance at bergen@trollmuseum.no).

Disability companions and guides with an ID (ledsager) may follow disabled visitors for free. We allow service animals on the premises as well.

  • The location is suitable for wheelchair users and other visitors with mobility issues. We do not have wheelchairs or other mobility devices available on site.
  • All information in the museum is printed in English and Norwegian on the museum walls and there are printed translations into multiple languages so deaf and hearing impaired visitors can read, but unfortunately none of the staff are fluent in sign language.
  • The museum relies heavily on visual art which cannot be touched and while audio guides are available, they do not include a description of the exhibit. We recommend that blind and visually impaired visitors come with guides.
  • Texts in the museum and on handouts are written in simple Norwegian and English to make them suitable for school-age children so visitors with learning disabilities shouldn’t have issues with understanding the material. Museum employees are available to answer questions and provide additional explanations as well and guided tours can be booked for visitors who have difficulties reading.
