We had a blast at the Troll Museum. On the day we visited there were no kids but every adult seemed to have so much fun that it felt like we were kids again. The augmented reality technology really draws you in to the experience. The hands on exhibits are engaging and varied. The interactive nature of the whole museum is wonderful. Plus, there is so much history and information presented that it would take a few visits to grasp it all. If you want a fun time that is also educational - this is the place for you.

Really enjoyed our visit, there's so much information to take it, almost too much, but you can read or listen to as much as you desire. You can use your phone to get an audio guide (see pick) There's a lot of interactive/ digital activities to immerse yourself in, it really is fun. Take your time to explore it all, it's worth it.

We spent a good coue of hours exploring the troll museum and found it fascinating. It was great to learn about 1000 years of Norse folklore, the trolls and all the other magical creatures that inhabit Norway. The museum has pictures, texts, videos, and interactive exhibits that inform and entertain. Just be aware of the Olle Bolle song, it gets into your head. An excellent place to visit in Bergen.

🇳🇴 Japanske oni møter norske troll! 👹I Japan finnes det en by som heter Kihoku, og i navnet finner vi tegnet 鬼 (Oni). Oni er mytologiske skapninger fra japansk folklore som kan sammenlignes med troll. Mens oni ofte blir sett på som fryktinngytende skapninger ellers i Japan, regnes de i Kihoku som beskyttende ånder som verner om de svake.Oni har blitt et av symbolene på byen. I Kihoku står det fem meter høye Oniōmaru-monumentet, og hvert år arrangeres en nasjonal konkurranse for oni-skulpturer. Gjennom konkurransen har byen bygget opp en unik samling av verk laget av japanske kunstnere.Og nå, takket være våre venner i Kihoku og innsatsen til Dr. Takeo Higuchi, har en liten del av denne samlingen kommet helt til Bergen!I museet vårt har vi samlet to folkloretradisjoner — japanske oni og skandinaviske troll — og inviterer deg til å oppdage hvor forskjellige, men samtidig overraskende like, de mytiske skapningene fra de to kulturene kan være.Kom og bli kjent med oni! 👹🇬🇧 Japanese Oni Meet Norwegian Trolls!👹In Japan, there is a town called Kihoku whose name contains the character 鬼 (Oni). Oni are Japanese mythological creatures similar to trolls. While Oni are generally feared throughout Japan, in Kihoku they are regarded as guardian spirits who protect the weak.Oni have become one of the symbols of the town.
