About Us

The Troll Museum is the only museum in Bergen dedicated entirely to trolls and folklore.

Famous Norwegian fairy tales and legends are presented using art, storytelling, and modern digital technologies you won’t find elsewhere.

Our unique combination of old and new brings you closer to history and mythology in immersive and interesting ways you need to experience for yourself.

There is fun to be had for everyone – adults and children, tourists and residents of Bergen alike.

What to expect

Our museum consists of 5 areas: Norse Mythology, The Hall of Trolls, Activity Hall, Huldrefolket, and Hidden Beneath the Waves. We also have a dedicated game room and a small library.

A spectacular combination of art, fairy tales, and modern technologies awaits you. To get acquainted with all the installations, test our games, and take full advantage of augmented reality and other technologies at a leisurely pace, you will need about two hours.

Let the stories that Norwegian children grow up with transport you into the world of fantasy and magic, kings and heroes, trolls and monsters.

What did the universe look like according to Vikings? How was the human world created? And what does it all have to do with trolls? Find out by reading more about Norse mythology!

For our youngest visitors, as well as all those who love logic puzzles and quick thinking, we have a whole host of different activities and games that you will definitely enjoy

Become an expert on the fairytale creatures that inspired many a legend in Norway - learn who they are, where to find them, and most importantly, how to be the hero who beats them!

Modern
digital technologies

We use a variety of modern technologies, such as immersive rooms, holographic fans, interactive exhibits, and Augmented Reality (AR) to make your museum visit more exciting and interesting. The technological aspects of the museum complement the art and stories we present and provide a new spin on old folklore. With the use of our touch screens, you will be able to fully immerse yourself in myths and legends like never before.

Follow the huge footsteps from trolls, you’ll find yourself on the third floor, in this delicate museum. Designed with lots of details, you can explore Norse mythology with the help of AR technology and passionate staffs. Reading area is full of interesting books with illustrations that can blow up your imagination. I was so fascinated by Nordic folklore and spent 2.5 hours inside despite the relatively small scale of the museum. Some knowledge of Norse mythology helps you understand and feel Norway better, so I highly recommend you to visit here.
